Get Rid of Pimples Fast

If you want to get rid of pimples fast you will no doubt be tempted to use one of the many hundreds of over the counter products.   These treatments include herbal and pharmaceutical preparations.    In addition there are prescribed only medications which are more appropriate for more severe acne problems and include antibiotics.

Each of the different forms of treatment have their advantages and disadvantages.   There is no single remedy that will work in all cases.  Different people react differently to different medications, both in terms of the skin pimples and any side effects.   This means that in your search to cure pimples, you really must spend time learning about the condition and in doing so understand and be accountable for the treatment you choose to take.

Prescribed treatments work by treating the bacteria which is the cause of the acne outbreak – though they may not treat the underlying cause, which is the suscpetibility to the initial infection.   A significant drawback to the use of antibiotics is that they are used for a wide range of bacterial infection unconnected to the skin pimples, and over time their effectiveness across each of these can be reduced – including acne.    For this reason, it is better not to use antibiotics unless there is very good cause, and that usually means when other treatment options have failed – or the acne is uncommonly severe.

Over the counter medications are produced in several different forms including soaps, facial cleaners, make-up removers as well as ointments etc..  Active ingredients vary.  Sulpher is a component in some of these and is one of the older treatments for acne.  It works by drying the skn and the natural oils (sebum) in which the bacterial infection is found.  The skin then peels away and expels the sebum and bacteria.  There is the chance of a reaction to the use of this medication.

Pharmaceutical treatments often include Benzoyl Peroxide, one of the most popular ingredients in those sold without prescription and can be used over a lengthy period of time.  It is effective for mild forms of acne, but less effective for more severe acne.   However unwanted side-effects are a feature of many pharmaceutical medications – and their use should be closely monitored.

There are a huge number of “natural” remedies.  They enjoy varying degrees of success and reputation, but have not been tested clinically and so it is not easy to verify the claims made for them.  The side effects are less problematic.

To summarise, people often want a quick response – to get rid of pimples fast.    For those people it is not unreasonable to try to cure pimples by the use of a single product whilst learning about the condition.  However you should avoid using a series of different products, one after the other as the hoped-for results do not happen, or do not last.   With skin pimples, success, is often only the temporary suppression of symptoms and not a treatment of the underlying cause – and has a habit of being short-lived.   Therefore even success is no substitute for learning about the condition.
